Snapper Unveils Mulching Mower With Direct Overhead Valve Engine Technology

McDonough, Ga., (October 6, 2006) — Snapper is introducing a new mulching mower with a direct over-head valve engine (DOV) to its industry leading line of walk-behind mowers.

"The benefits of direct overhead valve technology include increased fuel efficiency, lower sound levels and less vibration," says William Lowe, Snapper brand product manager for the Briggs & Stratton Yard Power Products Group.

The new 21" walk-behind mower boasts the patented Ninja® mulching system. With six unique cutting surfaces on each Ninja blade, grass clippings are cut and re-cut into extremely fine mulch that disappears into the lawn and decomposes quickly.

For the ultimate in reliable performance, operators can count on Snapper's exclusive disc drive which delivers more of the engine's power directly to the drive wheels. Because it eliminates complicated clutches, the unit offers enhanced serviceability.

The new walk-behind also features Snapper's Easy Speed™ shift controller for infinite variable speed selection without gear selection. With the simple touch of the Easy Speed shift controller, the operator can easily adjust his speed from 1.7 to 4 mph. There is also a cup holder and engine throttle control right at hand.

The new Snapper mulching mower with DOV engine has a suggested retail price of $449.99. Sales prices vary by dealer. Snapper introduced the industry's first self-propelled rotary mower in 1951 and was an innovator of the rear engine riding mower. Today, Snapper manufactures premium lawn care and snow removal equipment including walk-behind mowers, rear engine riders, tractors, zero turn riders, snowthrowing equipment, tillers, utility vehicles, generators and pressure washers. Manufactured by the Briggs & Stratton Yard Power Products Group, Snapper brand products are available via a nationwide network of independent dealers.
